Explore the flowing colors and expressive abstractions of Helen Frankenthaler, whose innovative painting techniques helped reshape American art. Students will experiment with color, movement, layering, and the element of surprise as they discover how an artist can suggest feelings, places, and ideas without painting them literally..

Students will learn art terms and new techniques. We will use a variety of media each month, including acrylic, watercolor, oil pastels, chalks and more. Please note that the picture used in this description is from a previous class. Upcoming planned activities may be different than what is shown above. This is to ensure that returning students are presented with new lessons and materials.
